Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to join a meeting. Here is an honest status: what works, what does not and how to tell us.
Last checked: 7 November 2026
Our goal and status
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA. Conformance has not yet been formally verified by an independent audit. Below is what we checked ourselves.
What works
- All buttons, links and fields have an accessible name or label (checked automatically on the join screen, in the meeting and in the side panels).
- The meeting can be operated with the keyboard. The shortcut overview is under the ? key. Participant tiles can be reached with Tab and controls show a visible focus.
- Button states (microphone, camera) are exposed to screen readers; chat, captions, the connection status and error messages on the join screen are announced as live regions.
- Light and dark mode. We adjusted text colours to meet a contrast of at least 4.5:1 (checked by measurement on the main screens).
- We respect the “reduce motion” system setting.
- Live captions (optional) and downloading the transcript and chat for people who are hard of hearing.
Known limitations
- We have not yet tested systematically with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack), so there may be issues an automated check does not catch.
- Live captions are provided by the browser, not by us. Quality and language availability depend on it and they are not available in every browser.
- Participants’ video and screen shares have no text alternative. The service does not yet offer sign-language interpretation or character-by-character real-time text (apart from the regular chat).
- Recording a meeting is available on desktop only and is operated from the “More options” menu.
